This subject was selected while painting with a group of painters in Santa Fe New Mexico. Our group was invited to paint in the Nedra Matteucci Gallery backyard sculpture garden, where the inspiration to paint overflows an artist’s creativity. I chose this contemplative Native American brave sculpture by Glenna Goodacre, as my focus against the backdrop of the supportive tree & adobe building, with a hint of the beautiful blue Santa Fe sky. As I developed the composition, it is almost as if the energy of the Native American brave revealed itself to me, as I tried to capture his spirit on paper.
