The composition for Chimney Rock evolved over several thumbnail sketch attempts. Finally, settling on what you see here being a blown up view of the chimney, surrounding rocks and mesa that completes this dramatic landscape. This view spotted during a drive around Ghost Ranch’s vast compound where this image persisted in my mind until I stopped and attempted to capture the iconic Chimney Rock and all its enduring beauty. What a special place to have the privilege to paint.
